Rye House IKR Round 2. Harrys debut in Honda Cadet.

RYE HOUSE IKR ROUND 2

Harry’s IKR update from last weekend goes like this . So the first test comes around for the cadet’s and harry take’s to the track and on the second lap his rear bumper bolt snaps going over the red and whites so his bumper is hanging off. So he comes into the pits with three laps done so panic stations set in and a trip to the shop for a new bolt see us just ready in time for testing session two, all be it a bit late going out . As he’s a novice he starts at the back of the grid but manages to finish the session.

Next up session three with Harry tearing round managing to get up to 18th out of 30 , with less than a second stopping him from getting in the top 10, so all’s going good so far, happy days he’s doing ok. Next up is qualifying and with 5 mins to go with the cadets getting ready to go out, he gets the nosebleed from hell. Blood everywhere so we think he’s gonna miss qualifying.

We mange to get it stopped and send him out, late again but straight away he picks up speed and manages to get up to 16th on the grid, the next lap shoots up to 6th fastest.

Needless to say my heart is beating out of its chest, then all of a sudden he pulls of the track and into the pits to tell me his tyres are slipping all over the place and that’s when my heart sank bless him he didn’t know he couldn’t go back out on track once he had pulled in, so as qualifying went on for next few minute’s his position on the grid fell from 6th to 25th so who knows how he would have done as all he was doing was getting faster.

Heat one saw him finish 25th, and heat 2 he didn’t make the grid as someone span in front of him, rolling backwards and their tyres clipped, knocking his ignition switch off and as the Marshall’s are not allowed to restart the engines he had to push his kart to the side on the formation lap, which meant he would start the final last on the grid of 30.

He did manage to get back up to finishing 25 with no penalties so we were more than happy with that. A fantastic day but with a lot of pressure and stress to get him out on track, cannot wait till Round 3 of the IKR championships next month.
